Transmission fluid leak

Hi,

Could the fluid you saw be coolant? That is what it sounds like to me. There are heater hoses that run from the engine to the firewall. There are even coolant hoses that run to the throttle body. See pic 1. If you look at pic 2, it shows the heater core hoses and where they attach at the fire wall.

I would start there. If you are unable to see the leak, you may need to pressure test it. Basically, you pressurize the system with the engine off and cool.

As far as the pressure tester, most parts stores will lend or rent one to you.

Thank you for your help and being there for the consumer. You are a blessing to those of us who are low income and disabled.
The mechanic saw a leak coming out from the bend of the harness over top of the pulley without looking on the ground for leakage when there is no leakage at all under the engine and say's It's the water pump and the cost will be $325.00
I will obey your instructions. You've told me where to start. I went out to look at where the spray is coming from with the engine running. Spray was coming a lot also from it looked like from behind the small pulley on I think the water pump. The spay even was spraying my eyeglasses as I was looking for the leak. Your answer also reminded me that every now and then leaking is inside on passenger side floor. Indicating that I may also have a bad heater core. If so I can only afford one at a time I will go to an auto part's store and request a radiator-pressure-tester and follow your instructions. Do you have a possible cost range that I should expect?

You are very welcome. I just hope I can help. As far as the spraying, if it is behind the water pump pulley, chances are it is the pump. There is a weep hole that can leak when the bearing or seal in the pump fails. If possible, take a pic and upload it for me to see the location of the leak.

As far as the heater core, I attached the parts and labor for it. Note that the part price is for an OEM part. You can get one aftermarket for less. However, the labor hours remain the same. You will have to take the average labor rate where you are and multiply it times the labor hours.

The aux core is for rear heat and wouldn't be leaking from the front, so focus only on the one that says main heater.
