So I got home last night backed into my spot and now it won’t come out of reverse what does that mean? And what kind of clutch does it take?

Hello,

So what do you mean it won't come out of reverse? Shifter is stuck in place or the clutch pedal is doing nothing? If it is the shifter this vehicle has 2 shift cables that could be the issue.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Colby

I agree with Colby. This is most likely a shifter adjustment issue. I am attaching the process below on how to adjust the shifter and replace the cable/linkage if you are not able to adjust it to correct this.

Maybe get a video of what the vehicle is doing and that will help with any other ideas.

Do you have any grinding in the recent past when going into first? Or is hard to get into first lately? This would indicate a clutch issue.

Here is a guide that talks about this:

Lastly you can try shutting off the vehicle and then rocking it while someone tries to get it out of reverse. A lot of times when these are out of adjustment, there is just so much tension on it that it doesn't come out.

Let us know what you find with this. Thanks

Yes, the shifter is stuck in reverse and when I push down on the clutch it just goes to the floor and it won’t let put it back into gear.

Hello,

Did this happen all of a sudden or you have issue with the releasing of the clutch before?
This could happen for few different mechanical failures. Something could have gotten loose or disconnected. Your clutch release bearing could have failed. Could have an issue with the clutch master or slave cylinder.
You might even have to bleed to system in case there is air trapped in the system.

Here is a helpful video of diagnosing clutch issue:

I have attached the basic operations of clutch as well as diagnostics.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.
