I have the car listed above it was wrecked. Transmission is in good shape.
I found a 1995 model Taurus with a 3.0 liter sohc. Same motors. Can I swap the two? It's probably a long shot but you never know until you ask.
Thanks.

Unfortunately it will not. It will most likely bolt up but the electronics are very different. For starters, the 95 is a distributor ignition and the 2002 is a coil pack ignition system. This is very different and the control modules will not recognize the other. This means you will need to change over all the control systems which means this bleeds into transmission controls and other systems.

Clearly anything can be done and this could be done but most of us would not want to put the time and money into converting this to work.

Looks like you need to look for an engine out of a 1999-2005 and you should be fine. Just be careful they are not flex fuel vehicles. Those have additional sensors that yours does not have.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks

Thanks for the heads up on the motors. Saved me time and everybody knows time is everything especially when under the hood.. So here's an update on what's going on: the other motor isn't blown or locked up. It was throwing codes 1451 and 0457. So I replaced the purge valve the canister. Both solenoids. 1 is under the tank the other is under hood by the PCM. Still nothing. Very rough idle. I tried smoking it to see any leaks. No such luck. But I did replace a couple hoses that seen their better days.
Next I bought a voltmeter and checked the wires for continuity and volts. So far everything checks out fine. Still when I crank it it runs terrible. I'm out of patience and running out of options. Next step would be to check the PCM?
Also I want to add in there that the car has 155,000 roughly. It ran fine before my girlfriend wrecked it. Actually nice and roomy. I was surprised. The car however would get sluggish and run terrible as soon as it got to the second half the tank.
From the full mark down to the half way point it ran pretty dang good. If anybody has any recommendations on what else to look or check please let me know. Thanks.

We can definitely help with this but unfortunately we need to start a new post. I would recommend just copy and paste that info about the codes into a new post because we need to keep each post to the subject in the header. Basically it is just so that others can find the answers to the questions asked and they won't find it if it is not under the correct heading. In other words they won't find the answers to this question under the heading of engine swap.

Hopefully that makes sense. Sorry for any inconvenience.
