One owner the car listed above it is a coupe always garages Nd well taken care of.

One day, the manual transmission would not shift into reverse. There are two cables, a selector cable for the forward gears and a cross over cable to lift up on the gearshift knob and put the car in reverse gear.

Removed the cable and seems to still have movement in the cable but not enough to throw the car into reverse.

Could it be more the just a faulty cable?

If the cable isn't moving far enough, it sounds like it is stretched. However, there could be a problem with a bushing. It would need taken apart and inspected.
