Transmission will not shift

We replaced the engine with a used engine that has 84,000 miles on it. The transmission worked fine before replacement, but now it will not shift. It is like it went into limp mode. Please help as I have a disabled daughter and need my car.

Good afternoon.

First, go over all the connections to the transmission. Make sure the wiring harness is securely connected and all the grounds are connected and tight.

Most of the time it is a connection or wire not connected. It will default to second gear only.
