Can I use a transmission out of a 2004 Malibu with a 3.1 engine in it to put in my 2008 Impala with a 3.5 engine?

Hello,
Those transmissions are different and not interchangeable.
For the most part Impalas from 2008-2011 uses the same transmission.
I have attached the replacement procedure below for your reference.
