Transmission swap

1990 PONTIAC FIREBIRD
144,000 MILES • 3.1L • V6 • 2WD • AUTOMATIC

I was told I could use a transmission out of a 1989 Chevy S10, however, upon arrival, the S10 transmission is larger, the torque converter is larger and nothing lines up. S10 was also a v6 so I'm rather confused, what transmission can I actually use?

Good morning,

You need the small bell housing transmission. The S10 had a 4.3 and used a larger bell housing.

You need a transmission for the 3.1.
