Been through all the obvious fixes for stuck shifter. Removed cable from transmission, still stuck. Shaft won't turn. Trying to remove valve body now but can't because it is stuck in park. Was going to replace the shift solenoid sensor. Any suggestions on how to remove valve body without damage?

That sounds like a broken parking pawl It locks into place and without it moving the shift shaft won't move either. Unfortunately you cannot reach it with the transmission in the vehicle. as it is inside the main case but the retainer is in the other section of the transmission. The 42LE has a few issues. If the rest of the vehicle is in good shape, get a rebuild kit and a good book on that transmission and rebuild it. You might want to look at,
