I replaced my transmission on my car listed above. Since replacing the transmission the speed sensor when connected is reading 120 when i'm actually going 20.

Good afternoon,

What year and model did your donor transmission come from?

I attached a picture of the speed sensor for you. If the transmission is different from the original, it will not read correctly. The sensor goes over a tone wheel inside the transmission to produce the signal for speed. If that tone ring is different, this is the result.

The replacement transmission came from a 2004 Ford mustang, is there a way to correct the problem?

You would need to find a speedometer guy that can fit an adapter for you to get the correct speed. The only other way is to either get the correct transmission or replace the shell inside the transmission.

It is internal. The transmission has to be disassembled to access the shell that holds the clutches and planetaries.

I attached a picture for you to view.

You need to do a Google search in your area for someone who does speedometer repairs.
