Driving down the road and put vehicle in neutral to restart the engine. after restarting I put the truck back in drive, it chirped the tires, and when I got to my destination, it had no reverse. when I put the truck in park it feels like the engine is still being torqued until I shut it down. It does not seem like I lost any other gear. Am I in for a rebuild, or is there a possible ECU issue?

I would check the shift linkage first, it is possible one of the bushings has failed and it is not shifting into the proper gear. They are plastic and like to fall out. You can get just an updated bushing from a few places online.
