We took our car to the shop for the yearly inspection. They found that an engine splash shield was missing but advised we could continue to drive without it. A month later a pressure switch on the transmission was loose causing oil to leak. The transmission is now shot and needs to be replaced. Car is 6 years old, in great condition and only 50,000 miles. Could the splash shield not being put on have caused this issue? The mechanic was the one that advised us the splash shield wasn’t needed.

Hi,

I have to be honest, the shield isn't what caused the switch to come loose. Is it a Honda Dealership? You could try to get help from Honda for the repairs. Maybe they would help with the repair since it resulted from a switch installed at the factory.

If you look at the rear of the owner's manual, there should be zone representative phone numbers. Contact them and see what they say.

Let me know if I can help.
