We were told that this part is bad and it is inside the transmission. We cannot find the part on any of the parts store sites and the husband thinks the mechanic is trying to pull one over on us. Is this true ? Thanks for your help.

This is the part the mechanic is talking about. It is Mopar part number 4659676AC. It tells the computer what gear you have selected with the lever so it can activate the correct solenoids for that gear.
