Transmission question?

My daughter has a 2012 Toyota highlander and who she purchased it from told her engine had been replaced vin says it was a v6 car but now has 2.7 4 cylinder. Needing axle replacement and was wondering did they have to change transmission also

Hi:

If the engine was changed, they would have had to replace the transmission as well, along with the power control module (PCM) and other related electrical components.

I checked the transmissions that it came with, and the two different engines had two different transmissions.

Since you need to replace an axle, I would get one designed to fit the new engine. That way, it should work with the different trans.

Is this vehicle 2 or 4-wheel drive?
