It just started all of a sudden, one day it drove fine, the next day it would go into reverse, but it slipped forward. My mom is 88 and she said she just kept going and it went fine.
We added three quarts of transmission fluid, and it, it still slipped going into drive. Any suggestions?

Good morning.

From the fluid being three quarts low, it may have damaged the forward clutches and caused them to burn, and they can no longer give a solid engagement.

The first thing I would do is change the oil/filter in the transmission and see if that helps. There may be debris in the filter not allowing enough oil to the front pump.
