Transmission problem

Transmission knocks on a could start. Shutters and slips when slowing down and slips when turning. Shifts fine during normal speeds. Was told it could be a trans pump or actuator switch. Is there a solution without replacing the whole trans?

it will not be a simple repair. the pump has or is failing requiring removal and overhaul.
