Transmission pops out of gear

Came to a stop, accelerated forward and a loud pop and suddenly no power to the wheels. Is there some kind of lock out switch or mechanical throw out?

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com. Restarted there was a banging when put in gear.

To answer your question, there are no lock out switches or anything that can be done manually that would cause this. Have you checked to make sure one of the CV joints on the axle has not broken?

Here is a link that shows what the component looks like and its purpose. If one of the joints broke, the vehicle will not move.
