Transmission PCM reset

I need of reset of my transmission control unit. How do I do it?

The transmission controls are part of the powertrain module in that truck. A way to clear the memory and force a relearn cycle would be to disconnect the battery for at least 5 minutes. However if there is any problem with the transmission and you do this it may not be able to relearn properly and you could have more issues than you do now. What id the problem that makes you feel a reset is needed?
