My 96 ford aerostar will no come out of park, but will when the key turened one click. My brake light will not come on as well. I think it is the shift interlock. Can I replace just that part or is it best to replace the whole Steering Column? Is there a relay for this? I checked fuses #1 and #5. I believe that that is the beak fuses but I dont have an owners manual so im not sure. Thanks for your help!

The shift interlock is actuated by the brake light switch. If the brake lights are not working, check the fuse and make sure the brake light switch is properly adjusted and working. It is located at the top of the brake pedal.

Let me know what you find.
