Hi,

Unfortunately, this is most likely the transmission. We need to start with checking the fluid but you will need a specific dipstick in order to do that. Not only do we want to see if the fluid is burnt but we need to see if it is low. More than likely the fluid has been burnt and now a clutch is not operating properly which causes excessive heat. If this is the case, you will need to overhaul or replace the transmission.

If the fluid condition is good and at the proper level, then we can move onto a sensor issue. If this is the case, then we need to use a scan tool to monitor what the sensor is saying in order to see if it is accurate.

Also, we need to check and see if there are codes in the system.

All of this information will get us on the right path. Let me know what you find. Thanks
