I’m replacing the output shaft seal while replacing the CV axle. There is a spring in the seal, and I need to know does the side the spring is on go inside the transmission or face out (towards the wheel)?

Hi,

The spring should face inward toward the transmission. Make sure to lubricate the new seal with transmission fluid prior to installing the new axle.

Let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe
