I got into a fender bender and my transmission oil cooler was smashed and all of the oil leaked out. I only drove a little a couple hundred feet and shut the engine off because it felt like it was losing power, I have sent to assess the damage and only the transmission oil cooler was smashed. I have taken it off and the lines are open will damage the truck if I start the engine, but don’t put it in gear.

Hi,

If you start it with the cooler disconnected, transmission fluid will immediately be pumped out of the transmission at a high pressure. Don't start it until the problem is resolved.

If you plan to replace the cooler, you will need to check the fluid level. Chances are it will be low.

Let me know what I can do to help.
