The lines have been puttied with some kind of JB weld I think it is still. Dripping transmission fluid pretty quick. It is a rubber and metal line built together or at factory it might be pressure or transmission cooler line not sure. There is two right next to each other and they are dripping good they maybe had a pin hole or a bracket rusted then he put engine mount on. After he paid it off but don't know if dry rotted. What can I do so it'll stop leaking right away?

Welcome to right turn signal or brake to light up

The steel transmission cooling lines rust and then begin to leak. Products such as you mentioned will not take the pressure the system makes. As a result, you still have a leak. The only way to fix it is to replace the lines. I attached a picture indicating how much pressure those lines see at an idle and in different gears. Take a look at it.

Let me know if I can help in any way or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Is the time a long process to replace them myself and save me money instead of the auto garage. I'm kind of tight on funds and are the lines cheap and was esdy to access and fix with new lines.

Welcome back:

Off the top of my head, I would estimate the lines to be under $40.00 for both. Not knowing where you are located, I can't be sure. As far as replacing them, the worst part is breaking the lines loose from where they bolt on to the transmission and radiator. Also, it isn't the cleanest job to do because trans fluid will leak. However, if you have a bit of mechanical ability, you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Let me know if I can help.

Take care,
Joe

Welcome back:

We have always referred to them as transmission cooling lines. Can you upload a picture of where the leak is so I can verify that for you?

Thanks,
Joe
