Ok so I bought this car and at times when it is not in limp mode it drives great! Strong engine and is awesome but more and more it is going into limp mode ( stuck in 2nd or 3 rd gear).I have noticed when it goes into limp mode the selected gear will not show on the dash ,it will just be blank.Also when trying to put the car back into park from drive, like while parking,it will get stuck in neutral and I have to let off the brake in order to get it to shift into park.So I'm assuming it's something to do with the electronic gear shifter.Its a 05 Mercedes Benz c320.Are there any free easy checks I could do? My current plan was to maybe go to pick n pull ( auto salvage yard) and get the entire shifter with knob and built in electronics.Would that be the best move or any suggestions on what it may be.It was pulling a code p0705 ,but did some research and thank God it doesn't seem transmission related at all because when it's not in limp mode it's drives great ,it seems shifter related to me.Also on 2 occasions 1 I hit the shifter and it stalled out ,another time I got a can of compressed air sprayed it in there and it came out of limp mode and gear on dash displays normally and everything's all good but then later but goes back into limp mode .Looking for cheapest / easiest fix.
