Transmission not shifting properly

If I put the car in drive, it's like it's binding up, if I shift it down into low or first you can feel it let go and it drives normal, but it will not shift shifting it into second it's just but doesn't seem to go into drive.

Hi,

The vehicle has a shift cable that may be damaged or out of adjustment. When you say it feels like it binds, do you mean the shift lever or the transmission itself?

Also, does the shift indicator provide the correct selected gear?

I attached directions below for adjusting the shift cable at the transmission range sensor. Take a look through them and let me know if this is something you have already tried.
