Transmission issue

The vehicle was intermittently "shuddering" at the upshift points in the 25-55 MPH range. A friend who knows cars said it was the torque converter. Took it to the dealer which removed the transmission, found that the torque converter had "loose metal" on the inside, also found damage to the pump, clutches, and axle. Then cleaned, flushed, and overhauled affected portions of the transmission, replacing various parts -- $2,800.00 worth of work all covered under the power-train warranty. Car now seems to be running okay. Question: is this a big red flag for the vehicle's future? Given the extensive issues with the transmission, will it stay fixed? Or might I be advised to trade it in now? (It's paid for.) Thanks for whatever advice you may have.

Good afternoon.

Ford is known for torque converter failures. It is a known problem and is something you need to watch.

One way to be sure it will not return is to change the fluid and filter every 35,000. It is sooner than recommended but needs to be done to ensure you will have no issues.
