Does this mean I need a new reverse drum? Also, what is the best way to clean all of the internal parts at home?

It is kind of hard to tell from the picture, but it does look scored, you can clean the parts at home using carburetor cleaner and a bundle of shop towels you can get from Amazon or Costco. Do you need instructions on how to put the drum back in? Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

That ring that I pointed to in the pic is a complete indent.

That might be normal, but I do see a little scoring in the middle of the indentation. That might be able to be cleaned up with some emery paper. I would need to compare the old drum to a new one to be 100% sure.
