Transmission fluid check?

On these V6 cars the dipstick has a dent where it would fit, so no way to be wrong. Drove the car after changing fluid, let it set for 2 minutes, pulled lipstick and it reads where it should be at the hot mark, between the 2 dots. But on the back side it reads about double that. I see that in many Hondas and Acura's. Do you have any tips for this?

Hi,

Chances are the fluid is making it up into the tube. Try this and let me know if it helps. Spray it off really well with something like brake cleaner and wipe it down. Then try to see if you get an even reading.

I attached the directions from my manual for checking the fluid. Take a look through them. It indicates it must be checked within 60 to 90 seconds after turning the engine off. It sounds like you already know that, but figured I would add them for you.

I will try that. I did not let the engine warm up and wait for the fan once, I just drove it so maybe it's way too hot and reads high. Also, I refilled through the dipstick.

Hi,

Try it and let me know the outcome. Keep in mind that when you fill it through the dipstick, it can lay in the tube and cause reading issues. There is a chance that is what happened.
