This afternoon it was the second time the car to be showing or displaying transmission failure. The first time it started it couldn't move while the gear was on reverse but able to move forward. I have noticed now that the underneath cover is soaked with oil and don't know where it coming from. I managed to find a certain mechanic who said it needs to replace oil filter seal without even going underneath to check, now the car is parked because I've got fear of driving around.

Hi,

Low fluid will prevent the transmission for working. At this point, we can't be sure what was damaged.

Now, most times when you see that much fluid, it is the result of a failed transmission cooling line or cooler.

For some reason, I am not showing an S60 in my manuals. I attached a pic of the transmission cooler of the S40. It should be the same. It will be mounted on the side of the transmission. Check to see if that is where it is wet.

Let me know.
