I got a transmission from a 2002 Ford Ranger and would like to know if it will work in my 2000 Ford Explorer XLS 4.0L V-6.

Hello Leroy,
The best way to tell if the transmissions are interchangeable is to look at the bellhousing and torque converter bolt pattern, also the electrical connector, if everything looks the same you are good to go. here is a video of the job being done on a similar vehicle which the procedure is the same on:

I have included how to do the transmission remove and replace in the images below. Please let us know if you need any more help.
