I was turning onto the street and mid acceleration I heard a loud clunk. I gave the car some gas and it didn't move but the rpm's went up. The same happened when I put it in reverse. I had it towed, while the driver was letting it down it was able to move while in park. Also, I heard a bit of a grinding noise when I moved the gear selector from drive into park. Getting it checked out but any second opinion would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Definitely, sounds like the rear end broke. It could be something in the transmission but the popping sound is normally something splined. The fact that you were in a turn would have been adding the stress to the rear end and not the transmission.

Clearly, this one should be pretty easy for them to find. Please let us know if I was correct. I am curious if my reasoning was sound or not. Thanks
