I am having trouble finding part the code threw. It was for a transmission control solenoid, but it is out of stock at AutoZone and all other stores are just showing the part for other years. I guess my car is a different part. Also can't find the location of it.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

I have to be honest, there are several different control solenoids. Do you have the code it set? I have attached pictures below so you can see what I mean.

Picture 1 is a clutch pressure control solenoid. It is internal and mounted on the valve body.

Picture 2 shows where the A B clutch pressure solenoids are located on the exterior of the transmission under the battery tray area.

The list goes on. Can you tell me the code you found or the specific name of the solenoid you need to replace? Also, let me know if you need the original equipment part number.

Take care,
Joe

The part number they have listed is for a cruise control release switch. See picture 1. Is that what they told you?

Also, look at pictures 2 and 3. Number 2 shows an exploded view of the transmission. If you look at number 3, numbers 11, 12, 13 are all shift solenoids. With that, I have no idea with the information they gave you what to tell you. Is there any way they could tell you the actual code that was found?

If they told you part number SW5204, which is listed on the slip, will fix a shift solenoid issue, it won't. I looked up the part on their website and attached it for you to see what the part is called (see picture 4)

Again, if possible, ask them for the specific code they found. With that, I will be able to tell you specifically which solenoid you need and location.

I hope you understand my confusion. Let me know what you find with the code so I can better direct you.

Joe

Welcome back:

The cruise control release switch is right above the brake light switch on the brake pedal. Here are the directions for replacement. The attached pictures correlate with these directions.

CRUISE RELEASE SWITCH REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Picture 1

1. Disconnect the cruise brake switch connector.

Picture 2

2. Rotate the cruise brake switch counterclockwise and remove the cruise brake switch from the switch retainer.
3. Gently compress the locking tabs on the cruise brake retainer and remove the switch retainer from the brake pedal assembly.

IMPORTANT: Depressing the brake pedal will allow easier access of the retainer locking tabs.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Picture 2

1. Install the cruise brake switch retainer into the upper hole of the brake pedal assembly with the retainer arrow pointing in the 3 o'clock position.

IMPORTANT: Inspect the retainer to ensure that the locking tabs locked into position and the retainer is in place.

Picture 2

2. Install the cruise brake switch.

IMPORTANT: Do not depress the brake pedal assembly during the cruise brake switch installation. Depressing the brake pedal during the cruise brake switch installation will cause a brake drag condition.

- Position the switch into the retainer with the electrical connector index notch pointing to the 1 o'clock position.
- Slide the switch in the retainer until the plunger is fully depressed into the barrel.
- Rotate the switch clockwise until the travel stop has been reached, approximately 60 degrees.
- Inspect the cruise brake switch to ensure the switch is properly locked into the switch retainer with the cruise brake switch electrical connector index notch pointing to the 3 o'clock position.

Picture 3

3. Connect the cruise brake switch harness connector.
4. Use the scan tool to monitor CRUISE BRAKE SWITCH in the engine control module (ECM) General Information data table, while depressing and releasing the brake pedal. Verify the APPLIED and RELEASED states read correctly.
