Today as I was driving to work I noticed my car delaying when shifting gears. I drove about 30 miles and as I got to work putting the vehicle in park felt very rough and it jerked into park. I turned the car off for a few minutes and back on only to find check engine light on and all gear selector indicator lights lit solid. Putting the car in drive was smooth but as I step in the accelerator it revs very high and is very hesitant to move. After 2nd gear it runs fine until I down shift again and then same deal not wanting to move very much and slow gear shifts.

Hi,

If all the lights are on, there is a chance a problem exists with the transmission range switch. To confirm this, you need to have the computer scanned for diagnostic codes. Since the check engine light is now on, codes are present. They will point us in the right direction. Since it revs and has little power when going slow, it sounds like it is in what is called limp mode. Basically, that is to "limp" the vehicle to a safe place.

Here is a quick video showing how to scan the computer:

I realize that most people don't own a scan took. However, most parts stores will do if for free.

If you get the codes, let me know what they are. If you find it is the transmission range switch, I attached the directions and pics specific to your vehicle for replacement.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
