I have replaced the transmission cable okay. New problem before I attached new cable I moved the lever on top of transmission all the way forward and attached the new cord but it still says it's in reverse as first gear instead of park have been just usings cord to change gears temporarily until the gear shift stick assembly comes in it seems to only go into reverse as far forward I can get it to go in gear terms it won't go into park gear now and won't release keys unless in park. I'm not sure what happened. The cord was specifically for my model and engine. I'm confused on why park seems to no longer exist on the cord! Please help!

I have also pressed the brake and the release cord next to the transmission cable, but it won't go in park. Note: it is not attached to shifter stick I'm just using cable to pull and push into gears until the other part arrives. Not sure what I did wrong.

Hi,

When you install a new cable, place the shifter in the park position. Then, under the hood, shift the transmission into park. At that point, there is an adjustment on the side of the shifter. Tighten the nut and it should be in park. See pic below

Let me know if that helps. Also, I'm not sure what part you are waiting for so let me know.

Joe
