Transmission swap any transmission from another year model

Is there any transmission from another year model that will work in my truck?

Hi,

If you order the transmission from the dealer they will tell you that only 2004 45RFE transmission will work because that is the way they list then in the parts catalog.

There are many companies that will rebuild 45 RFEs for 2002-2005 and you are fine going with any of these.

I would not go outside these years because they did start to change things that will cause you issues.

If you are looking at a salvage yard unit, you should stick with a 2004/2005 unit because even though the parts catalog lists these units separate, they are the same part number. 05133155AB
