I was driving my car the other day and the transmission stopped, just like it went into neutral I shut. It off and started it back up, it took off for a minute and stopped again. I changed fluid it was great put fluid back in and it still does the same. I am stumped and do not know the problem. I checked the front two sets of sensors on transmission voltage wise they work just fine. I have no clue. No codes, no check engine light, no nothing. D4 light has not worked whole time I had car. Please help.

Good morning my name is Roy and I will assist.

It could be a failed front pump inside the transmission or a clogged filter. The filter is not accessible. It would require removing the transmission and splitting the case in half. There are no sensors for engagement. That is mechanical inside the transmission. It sounds like you will have to have the transmission removed and inspected for failure. The alternative is to replace the transmission with a used unit.

Happy Holiday!

The filter gets clogged with debris from either clutch material clogging it or from the fluid itself. Yes, it can as the fluid and pressure is the life blood of the transmission. Honda over the years has not made the filter accessible for service.

So I cannot drain my transmission completely and with high pressured air/water blow my transmission out to clean? I am just a curious guy and my transmission was going strong currently rebuilt by a good buddy and hands he's known in Missouri as the drive shaft buster cause his transmission's stand up to whatever you threw their way, but he had not done but two Honda's in his life. I am just a thinker and what I am saying sir is completely logical. Thanks, please let me know your opinion on this cleaning because I know It can be rebuilt and the filter gets replaced so why not blowing it out clean it if it got clogged. That way anyways? My transmission shifted so smooth and never hesitated. Seems like there is a way and I believe I can clean it by pushing water and air threw?

Do not use water. It will contaminate the fluid.
If anything, take it somewhere and have them flush it. The solution they use and the fluid under pressure will clean the screen up. It will also not contaminate the fluid.

Can you tell me which solution? I have a huge garage and quite a bit of knowledge and you also helped a bunch sir I appreciate all of your time and answers and hope your holidays are blessed. Sir, if you may respond with a answer as to the solution would be great. Also, how many quarts does it take when I change the fluid? I may have put a quart or less extra in. Thanks sir.

It is an transmission flush agent. It is used in conjunction with a flushing machine that circulates around fourteen to fifteen quarts of fluid through the system.
