Clutch has extra play and easily pushes to floor with little resistance. Joystick also has loose play. Only able to changes gears /get into a gear once car is warmed up. Causes? Cost range for repairs?

Hi,

If you are only able to shift gears after it warms up, check the clutch fluid level. If it is low, that can cause this issue. As the engine warms up, the fluid expands and is more likely to work to release the clutch.

The clutch fluid reservoir is the brake master cylinder. A hose between the brake reservoir and the clutch master cylinder provides the fluid. See pic 2 letter B

Make sure the brake MC is full. If it is, look under the dash at the top of the clutch pedal to locate the clutch MC. Inspect it to make sure there is no evidence of a leak. See pic 1

As far as the shifter being loose, chances are it is simply the connector ends of the cable. Inspect them as well for wear. See pic 3

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe
