Feels like it is slipping gears while driving the tachometer goes haywire and transmission does not catch up to the RPMs?

It will reach high or very low rpms before it shifts. I don't know if this matters, but my vehicle listed above is a trail rat Cherokeeted edition, 4 wheel and Quatro drive.

The first thing to do is to check the level of the transmission fluid which this guide can help with.

Next, I would run the codes to see what comes up, I have seen a bad MAF sensor or clogged exhaust system cause late shifts.
