no, because the transmission faults are generated by the transmission in 95% of the cases, check the codes first to see what they refer too first

you will require an OBD reader, some spare parts outlets will do a scan for free, but you can purchase a generic scanner fairly cheap, cheap scanners will only give codes with no definitions.
