When you use a pump do you have to keep the car running when filling the transmission with fluid?

The engine should be running and the transmission in Park, the transmission oil must be between 30-50deg C and the oil must only trickle out of the filler plug, the oil used is Dex 111 the oil temperature is critical for accurate filling. this is checked with a scanner that has PIDs for transmission temperature reading.
