Transmission not shifting properly

When I go from 2nd into 3rd gear my RPMs rev really high and the truck does not shift into gear. I have to let off the gas and wait for it to fall back before I can press on the gas and it go into gear. This is the only gear it does it to.

Good morning,

This could be the 2-3 shift solenoid not working correctly. You will need to drop the pan and filter to access the solenoid.

I attached the procedure and pictures for you below. When one of these solenoids fails, they usually set a code with a check engine light.

I forgot to mention it is throwing 2 codes. One is p0171 and p0442.

Neither one of those is connected to the transmission.

We will deal with them on another question. We can only deal with one issue at a time per question. You can start a new question with those codes and I will be happy to help
