I pulled into a parking lot and another driver ran into my back. The damage did not seem to be as extensive, however, when I started the vehicle later that day there was a loud noise coming from the transmission area when I accelerated. The vehicle drove at less than 2mph and it just would go forward after that. Can someone explain what might have been the issue?

It really depends how hard you hit in the back and if anything, shifted and damaged, the transmission on the harness. I’m sure there is a check engine light on as well. The first thing I would do is have it scanned, which would then tell us what code is stored and what’s failing. I would also make sure you have pictures of the damage the other owner's information and I would have it up on a lift to see if there’s anything leaking or damaged as well. Once you have that information, please report back. I’ll be more than happy to help you.

So what happened is when you got in the accident when you got hit in the back it most likely jolted everything and possibly damaged the oil sensor in the transmission. That’s what that code is for. I’ve attached the flow chart for you to see how it operates and what could be the cause of that code any issue you are having. But I do hope you still have a police report and insurance information as this is going to need to be covered under insurance, either a complete transmission removal and repair and replacement or just the sensor has failed over the wiring. I’ve attached a link for you to follow to understand what needs to be done.
