Transmission intermittently disengages at highway speed then drops back in with a bang. Speedometer also jumps over 40 mph. Related?

Good morning,

Did you check the fluid? A low fluid level or a clogged filter would cause this issue. I would start by changing the fluid and the filter.

Are there any codes set?

Hopefully changing the fluid and filter will resolve the issue. This transmission did not have a good reputation. It had a high failure rate.
