Overdrive shuts off on its own

While I'm driving my vehicle runs fine for awhile then the overdrive shuts off, RPMs go up and car jerks (like a bad spark plugs), but when I shut it off for a few minutes it runs fine for a bit then does it again. Also if I hit a bump or go over railroad tracks overdrive shuts off. What's going on using lots of fuel?

Hello, I'm Danny.

The first thing I would suggest is to perform a CAN scan. It will check all the systems on your vehicle for codes including the transmission which is giving you an issue. Here is a tutorial showing how to perform a CAN scan:

If you don't have access to a scanner like this most auto parts stores have a tool loaner program and can rent you one. After you perform this please get back to us with all code information and then we can help properly diagnose the issue. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
