Got stuck in a snowbank. When it was pulled out out the car will go in reverse but not forwards.

This is a common result of rocking the vehicle back and forth between drive and reverse when trying to get unstuck in snow. It burns up the clutches in the transmission. Get a sample of the transmission fluid and smell it. More than likely it will smell burnt.

Okay, that’s good that it didn’t get rocked. I would start by checking the Power-train Control Module for trouble codes, and of course the fluid level and condition which sounds like you’ve done. After that it would be verifying line pressure and go from there.

I will keep you updated. I'm going to admit defeat and take to a shop this week. It takes time when I live thirty miles from the shop and they want $200.00 for a tow. But no worries I have a trailer to take it in.

Okay, did you ever run the codes? It could be the gear position sensor that has gone out. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.
