What other transmissions would fit my truck?

Hi,
There were a couple of different transmissions that were options. The most common one is the 42RE which is a 4-speed automatic. If that is what you have, you should be able to go a couple of years back or forward from 2001 and it should work.
The only real concern when you change model years is whether the sensors/connectors remain the same. As far as the transmission itself is concerned, it is basically the same.
Note, I believe the same transmission was used in the 2wd Durangos as well.
