My reverse gear works, but when i put it in drive it does not move what could be the problem?

Has the transmission fluid ever been changed? It is supposed to be changed every 50,000 miles.The first thing I would do is check for codes and then check the transmission pressure.You could have a internal failure inside the transmission.
