Will a transmission out of a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 fit a 1992 Dakota 5.2 ltr?

The 1997 is OBD controlled by electronics. The 1992 has OBD1 technology and does not have the controls.

You need a transmission from your year truck.

Physically it would fit, however it would not actually operate as the Dakota wouldn't have the electronics needed to make it function properly.
