Welcome to 2CarPros.

I need a little more information. The transmission is an automatic. Do you mean if you shift into d-2 it shuts the engine? Does the vehicle run normally if just in drive? Is the check engine light staying on when the engine is running?

Let me know.

Joe

The check engine light is not on. If you put it in drive when it shifts out of first it shuts off and drains the battery.

This sounds like you have a transmission shift solenoid that is shorted out which locks up the system and drains the battery. To test, when this happens can you remove the transmission wiring harness plug to see if the battery does not drain down? Please get back to us.
