My transmission is stuck in 3rd gear my check engine light is on it says I need a mass air flow sensor. could that be the problem?

Codes do not tell you to replace anything. They tell you there is a failure in that system.

Can you list the code number for me to see? Then I can check that code to see if there is a connection to the transmission issue.
