My truck will idle High on 1 and 2 rpm's. Also it won’t shift past first gear. I think it might be the filter or the reaction son gear. Also my truck sways back and forth when I go past 50 mph. Please help

I checked for a leak and it was good.I checked the fluid and it’s good too.I think it could either be the torque converter, Transmission Reaction Sun Gear. The pump, sensors or the control module that wore out.

Good morning,

The throttle position sensor controls the commands for the shifting. It sends a signal to the TCM and then the commands go to the shift solenoids for operation.

Do you have any codes sent?

Have you changed the fluid and filter?

there is a governor that also controls the shifting on the driver's side of the transmission. If the plastic gear is bad, it will not shift. This is a common failure.

I checked fluid and checked for leaks and it’s good. Could it be the control module?

That is the very last thing in the flow chart. You need to start with checking the TPS and the governor as I stated.

Does it have a check engine light?

There is a code stored for that light. I need that code as it may be related to the issue.

The end of the governor should have a plastic gear.

Keep me updated.

Yeah, I know what your talking about, my old classic Chevrolet had the governor gear. My 1996 Yukon is newer and doesn’t have a plastic gear, it’s all metal and I’ll stay in touch until I get it.
